Pastor John Piper, who many of us at Friday Nights in Ferndale, recently preached a series of sermons in the UK on the book of Ruth. Since we recently finished the Redeeming Ruth sermon series from Mars Hill Church, I thought these would be a helpful resource.

In the second sermon in the Redeeming Ruth series, Pastor Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill Church in Seattle introduces us to Boaz, the hero of the story of Ruth. We are told that Boaz is a distant relative of Elimelech, Naomi’s deceased husband. He is spoken of as a “worthy man” and continually displays such impeccable character that many have called him a “type” or prophetic example of Jesus Christ. The great preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon affectionately referred to Jesus as “our glorious Boaz.”
